Manchester United are reportedly ready to focus their attention on signing Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek rather than Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Kai Havertz.
Given their form for their respective clubs this season, both players are expected to move to bigger teams during the next transfer window.
With doubts emerging over United's pursuit of Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho, it also appears that they may be unwilling to shell out in excess of £75m for Havertz.
According to the Daily Star, club officials are willing to prioritise agreeing terms for Van de Beek, aware that the Netherlands international will cost considerably less at a time when the market has been hit by the coronavirus pandemic.
Although Van de Beek would still cost in the region of £40m, the 23-year-old is said to be regarded as better value for money.
United are allegedly willing to sell Andreas Pereira in order to make room for the Dutchman.
