Manchester United are reportedly in discussions with Marcus Rashford regarding a new five-year contract.

Manchester United are reportedly prepared to offer Marcus Rashford a new five-year contract.

The 25-year-old has spent the entirely of his professional career at Old Trafford, coming through the academy setup to make 328 appearances in all competitions.

However, up until the arrival of Erik ten Hag last year, it was considered likely that the England international may opt to take on a fresh challenge away from his boyhood club.

Since working under Ten Hag, Rashford has produced some of the best form of his career, particularly either side of the break for the World Cup.

While the versatile attacker netted three times in six outings immediately before representing England in Qatar, he has since taken his game to new levels upon his return to club action.

Rashford has netted in each of United's most recent seven matches, chipping in with a total of eight strikes and two assists with the Red Devils prevailing from each of those fixtures.

With a match against Crystal Palace to come on Wednesday evening, Rashford is currently focused on trying to extend that streak, aware that a United victory at Selhurst Park would see them move into second position in the Premier League table.

Nevertheless, according to The Sun, conversations are currently ongoing behind the scenes with regards to a new long-term deal.

United recently moved to activate a 12-month option in Rashford's contract to ensure that he would not hold discussions with foreign clubs from January onwards.

However, that development was a formality, and the United hierarchy now wish to hand Rashford a contract until 2028 as soon as possible.

The report adds that United are willing to hand the striker a 50% pay-rise, which would move him to terms in the region of £300,000 per week.

While clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain may be willing to offer Rashford a more lucrative deal, United allegedly have no intention of breaking their wage structure.

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi acknowledged last month that the French giants would be interested in Rashford should he become available on a free transfer.

As it stands, though, a switch to Parc des Princes now looks unlikely unless United are unsuccessful with negotiations over the coming weeks.
