Report: Wayne Rooney to sign new Manchester United contract

Wayne Rooney will sign a fresh Manchester United contract despite rumours suggesting a summer move to Paris Saint-Germain is all but agreed, according to a report.

Wayne Rooney will reportedly sign a new deal at Manchester United rather than join Paris Saint-Germain as stories in France have suggested.

It was claimed by a former PSG advisor on Monday that a deal has been agreed to take the England striker from the Premier League to the Ligue 1 outfit.

However, according to The Independent, Rooney's future lies at United, with manager Sir Alex Ferguson neither prepared to sell the 27-year-old nor bring in a replacement for him.

Rooney signed a reported £250,000-a-week contract, which expires in 2015, with the Red Devils in 2010, and United plan to extend his Old Trafford stay further to quieten speculation over his future.

The Premier League leaders have been linked with a move for Radamel Falcao if Rooney was to depart for PSG.
