Real Madrid Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly advised to wait 18 months before considering a return to Manchester United.

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly been advised to remain at Real Madrid for a further 18 months before making a return to Manchester United.

The Portugal captain has been linked with an exit from the Bernabeu this summer following his admission that he is yet to agree a new contract with the Spanish giants.

While United has been touted as a possible destination for the Ballon d'Or runner-up, it is believed that the Premier League champions will be unable to compete with Monaco's reported £85m offer and tax-free contract.

It is understood that Ronaldo has been advised to wait until January 2015 when he will be free to speak to clubs ahead of his contract expiring in the summer, with United prepared to offer the prolific star a £118m wage package, according to The Independent.

Reports have claimed that Ronaldo will reject a lucrative switch to Monaco this summer as he does not want to miss out on playing Champions League football.
