Samuel Umtiti plays down talk of Barcelona exit amid Man United, Arsenal links

Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti insists that he has no interest in leaving the club, despite recent speculation linking him with Manchester United and Arsenal.

Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti has played down speculation that he could leave the club in the foreseeable future.

The 26-year-old has regularly been linked with a move away from Camp Nou in recent transfer windows, with Manchester United and Arsenal among those linked with a move for the Frenchman.

Umtiti has now confirmed that there were initial talks over a possible return to former club Lyon during the summer, but insists that he is only interested in staying with the Catalan giants.

"Lyon is my team, it is my city. It is the team that has given me the opportunity to play in Europe, in Barcelona and with the national team," he is quoted as saying by Canal Football Club.

"There were talks with them during the transfer market, but there was never anything concrete.

"I don't see myself in a club other than Barcelona. I have been clear with everyone on this issue."

Umtiti has been limited to only 33 appearances across all competitions over the past two seasons and is yet to feature at all so far in 2020-21.
