Manchester United 'to trigger Marcus Rashford extension'

Manchester United are reportedly ready to trigger the 12-month option in Marcus Rashford's contract, keeping the forward tied to Old Trafford until 2021.

Manchester United are reportedly ready to trigger the 12-month option in the contract of Marcus Rashford.

The forward has progressed through the academy setup to become a key man for the first team, contributing a total of 45 goals from 170 appearances in all competitions.

However, the 21-year-old now has just one year left on his deal, with reports indicating that the England international is demanding £350,000 per week in order to remain at Old Trafford.

According to The Sun, United are ready to respond by triggering an extra 12 months in Rashford's contract to avoid losing the player on a free transfer next summer.

The report adds that there is a desire from both parties to agree fresh terms, although United are seemingly insisting that it will not be on the structure currently being demanded by the attacker.

Meanwhile, the Premier League giants are allegedly back in discussions with David de Gea as they look to extend the Spaniard's stay in the North-West of England.
