Half-Time Report: Monaco, Marseille fail to break deadlock

Marseille and Monaco both miss good chances in a goalless first half in Ligue 1.

A tight first half between Marseille and AS Monaco has ended goalless at Stade Louis II.

Marseille started the game in control, and they missed a great chance to break the deadlock early on when Andre-Pierre Gignac headed wide from a Florian Thauvin cross.

Despite being forced back for much of the early stages, Monaco missed the best opportunity of the first half when Anthony Martial rattled the crossbar after latching on to a loose ball in the box.

Thauvin was a constant threat to the Monaco defence, and another one of the winger's inviting deliveries picked out Mario Lemina, who headed just past the post.

Marseille continued to look the most likely to score in the first half, but Monaco's back four held firm to remain on level terms heading into the break.
