Mexico forward Carlos Vela could reportedly receive a ban from club football if he refuses to play for his country.
The Real Sociedad striker has been called into the Mexican squad for the friendlies against Netherlands and Belarus next month, but the 25-year-old has previously expressed his unwillingness to represent his nation.
According to TodoMercado, if Vela refuses to show, then FIFA will ban the former Arsenal attacker from club football.
A similar situation occurred last September, when Bayern Munich attacker Franck Ribery expressed his reluctance to play for France, which was criticised by UEFA president Michel Platini.
Vela has not played for Mexico since 2011.
