Albert Adomah: 'Only promotion to Premier League is success for Middlesbrough'

Middlesbrough winger Albert Adomah says that only promotion to the Premier League can be considered a success for the club this season.

Middlesbrough winger Albert Adomah has said that last season cannot be considered a success for the club as they did not achieve promotion to the Premier League.

Boro finished fourth in the Championship, their highest position since being relegated to the division in 2009, but were beaten 2-0 by Norwich City in the playoff final at Wembley in May.

Adomah is adamant that the club can go one further this year and achieve true success by securing a return to the top flight.

"You can't say it was a successful season. I know we finished high in the table but we didn't get the last promotion push," he told Boro's official website.

"Hopefully this season if we can get promotion then I can say it was successful.

"To be honest, the teams we feared are all promoted. It's down to us and we finished runners-up in the final, so we'll be one of the favourites to get automatic promotion."

The Teesiders are looking to replace last season's top scorer Patrick Bamford after his loan spell ended, and have reportedly had a bid of over £10m rejected by Blackburn Rovers for striker Jordan Rhodes.
