Dutch coach Bert van Marwijk insists that his side still have a chance of reaching the quarter-finals of Euro 2012, despite a 2-1 loss to Germany on Wednesday.

Netherlands coach Bert van Marwijk has insisted that his side can still reach the quarter-finals of Euro 2012, despite suffering a second consecutive defeat in the group stages with Wednesday's 2-1 loss to Germany.

Mario Gomez's brace in Gdansk now means that the Dutch could have to beat Portugal by at least a couple of goals in their final game to stand a chance of progressing.

"No, our tournament isn't over just yet," Van Marwijk told reporters.

"I don't think that Germany will throw the game against Denmark. That doesn't happen at this level. We have to come up with something to beat Portugal 2-0."

The last time that the Netherlands failed to make the quarter-finals of the European Championship was in 1980.
