Tim Krul to miss "four or five games"

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew reveals that first-choice goalkeeper Tim Krul will be out for up to five games with an ankle ligament injury.

Alan Pardew has revealed that Newcastle United will be without Tim Krul for "four or five games" after the goalkeeper picked up an ankle injury.

The Netherlands international sustained ligament damage during training ahead of the team's game against West Ham United in the Premier League yesterday.

The Magpies manager told BBC Sport: "Rob Elliot will be in goal for the next four or five games.

"It's been blow after blow this year, but we've rode them and that's been the key to our success. We've put younger players in and those in the group. We lose Tim but Rob's produced a super performance."

Newcastle's 1-0 loss to the Hammers at Upton Park ended their run of six straight wins in all competitions.
