Loic Remy 'never worried' about goal drought

Newcastle United striker Loic Remy insists that he was always confident about ending his recent drought in front of goal.

Newcastle United striker Loic Remy has insisted that he was not too worried about his drought in front of goal, as he knew he would eventually get back on track.

The 26-year-old missed a penalty before bagging a brace in the 5-1 win over nine-man Stoke City on Boxing Day, taking his tally for the season to 10.

The goals ended a five-game wait for the Frenchman, who admitted that he did start to have doubts, but always stayed confident.

"It's true, there's a moment when doubts do start coming into your head, but I wasn't too worried. I knew it would come," Remy told reporters.

"I wasn't sure when it would come back, but I knew it would come. I play in this team and I get fantastic service. People always give me great balls into the box, so I knew it would come straight back.

"It's a good example for kids watching, that in adversity you have to be able to react, you have to be able to face up to these difficult times. But I got those two good goals and hopefully over the rest of the season, I will be able to get some more."

Remy is currently on a season-long loan at the Magpies from Queens Park Rangers.
