Newcastle United track Alex McCarthy as Tim Krul replacement?

A report suggest sthat Newcastle United are looking at Reading's Alex McCarthy with Italian champions Juventus said to be interested in Tim Krul.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has reportedly identified Reading goalkeeper Alex McCarthy as the man to replace Tim Krul should the Dutchman leave St James' Park.

Italian champions Juventus are believed to be interested in the 25-year-old, who still has over three years left to run on his Magpies contract.

According to the Daily Star, scouts have been monitoring the 23-year-old Royals keeper with a view to launching a bid should the Bianconeri meet their £20m demand for Krul.

The England Under-21 international has established himself as the number one at the Madejski Stadium since the arrival of Nigel Adkins as manager.
