Borussia Dortmund winger Jakub Blaszczykowski confirms that he has torn his anterior cruciate ligament and will undergo surgery this week.

Borussia Dortmund winger Jakub Blaszczykowski has confirmed that he has torn his anterior cruciate ligament and will undergo surgery this week.

The Poland international was forced off after just six minutes in Dortmund's 2-2 draw with Augsburg on Saturday.

There was plenty of concern for the 28-year-old, who has now confirmed the severity of the injury, which will leave him with a lengthy stint on the sidelines.

"Unfortunately it is confirmed: The front knee ligaments are torn. On Thursday I [will] have surgery," Blaszczykowski wrote on his Facebook page.

Blaszczykowski joined Dortmund from Wisla Krakow in 2007.
