Sepp Blatter holds emergency FIFA meeting

FIFA president Sepp Blatter holds an emergency meeting with key figures from the world of football, as an investigation into alleged corruption continues to develop.

Sepp Blatter has held emergency talks with representatives from each of FIFA's six confederations.

The under-fire football chief is due to go up against Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein of Jordan in Friday's presidential election.

Having pulled out of a medical conference in Zurich this morning, Blatter has now rounded up key figures from world football's governing body as the pressure on him continues to increase.

A FIFA official told PA: "A meeting was held with representatives from the confederations but there is no further information."

Seven football officials were arrested on Wednesday on allegations of bribery, money laundering and racketeering, while a separate investigation has been launched looking into the awarding of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.
