Prince Ali thanks "brave" voters

FIFA vice-president for Asia Price Ali thanks the 73 countries that were "brave" enough to vote for him in the organisation's presidential election.

Prince Ali has thanked the 73 countries that were "brave" enough to vote for him in the FIFA presidency election.

The Jordanian stood against Sepp Blatter for the top job at the governing body of football in Zurich earlier, but withdrew from the race after neither candidate secured a majority in the first round of voting.

Speaking to the FIFA delegates after making his decision, the body's vice-president for Asia said: "It has been a wonderful journey. I want to thank all those brave enough to support me, but I will be withdrawing from the race. I wish you all the best of luck for the future."

England, Australia, Wales and the USA were among the nations to publicly voice their support for Ali in the run-up to the vote.
