Norwich City manager Chris Hughton claims that his team were worthy of the point that they gained against Sunderland.

Chris Hughton has insisted that his Norwich City side were deserving of the 1-1 draw that they collected from their trip to Sunderland earlier today.

Despite having 10 men for 60 minutes after goalkeeper Mark Bunn was red carded for handling the ball outside of his penalty area, the Canaries largely limited their hosts to shots from distance as they held out for a share of the spoils.

"Of course, everybody will speak about the three big decisions, but I owe it to this group of lads to praise them for the quality of their performance," he told Sky Sports News. "I can't remember too many clear-cut chances that Sunderland had. They had a lot of shots from outside the box and a lot of crosses that we had to deal with.

"But I thought we threatened on the break, it was always going to be difficult for us, I can't praise them highly enough.

"I don't think there would be anybody in this stadium who would think we didn't deserve to get at least a point."

The result has left Hughton's team 12th in the Premier League standings, seven points above the drop zone.
