Chris Hughton: 'We are fighting for our lives'

Norwich City manager Chris Hughton admits that their 1-0 defeat to relegation rivals West Bromwich Albion leaves the Canaries fighting for their Premier League lives.

Chris Hughton has admitted that the 1-0 home defeat to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday has left Norwich City "fighting for their lives" to avoid the drop.

The Canaries lost to one of their relegation rivals at Carrow Road to fall to 17th in the table, five points above Fulham, who they play at Craven Cottage next week.

Hughton has admitted that the result against Albion was a missed opportunity for his side to put some distance between themselves and the bottom three, and has confessed that their match against the Whites is now shaping up to be Norwich's biggest of the season.

"We have taken a step backwards and we have to turn it around against Fulham next week. Losing today makes it an even bigger game," Hughton told reporters.

"At the moment, the Fulham game has become the biggest of the season. I understand frustrations and it is normal, but we have to understand it is us as a group and everybody is going to get us the results we need.

"It was an opportunity to get a gap between us and the bottom three and we are now fighting for our lives."

Norwich finish the campaign with games against Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal.
