Norwich City finish third after beating Fulham

Norwich City end the Championship season in third place after recording a 4-2 victory over Fulham at Carrow Road.

Norwich City have secured third spot in the Championship standings after seeing off Fulham by a 4-2 scoreline.

The visitors started well at Carrow Road, with Ross McCormack seeing a low effort kept out by John Ruddy, before Norwich responded through Nathan Redmond, who fired wide of the target.

Midway through the half, Jonny Howson was provided with the chance to get a 20-yard strike in on goal, but his shot was comfortably saved by Marcus Bettinelli.

Nine minutes before the break, Norwich found their opening goal when Wes Hoolahan got in behind the Fulham defence before pulling the ball back for Bradley Johnson to provide the routine finish from eight yards.

Fulham needed to get to half time but three minutes later, it was 2-0 after Redmond was given time and space on the edge of the area before curling the ball into the far corner from 20 yards.

Two minutes after the break, Hugo Rodallega, who had wasted a one-on-one chance just before the interval, saw a curling effort palmed away by Ruddy before Redmond shot straight at Bettinelli at the other end.

The Cottagers were offering more in the final third in the second half, and on-loan midfielder Danny Guthrie almost brought them level when firing the ball into the side-netting.

Norwich offered a response through Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe, but after the ball had fallen invitingly for him on the edge of the box, he could only curl his shot over the bar.

After the game had entered the final 10 minutes, the points were sealed when substitute Graham Dorrans picked up Redmond's cut-back before applying the finish past Bettinelli.

Fulham hit back immediately thanks to a volley from Matt Smith before Johnson scored a second from 30 yards out.

After the game had entered added-on time, Johnson headed into his own net from a Fulham free kick but it didn't prevent his team recording their first win in three games to move through to a playoff encounter with local rivals Ipswich Town.
