Nottingham Forest clarify Dougie Freedman's contract situation

Nottingham Forest owner Fawaz Al Hasawi clarifies Dougie Freedman's contract situation following claims that the manager has a three-month deal.

Nottingham Forest owner Fawaz Al Hasawi has clarified Dougie Freedman's contract situation after it emerged that his deal will last just three months.

Al Hasawi was quoted as saying that the coach, who was appointed by the Championship club on February 1, had signed a short-term deal.

However, the owner and chairman has insisted that while Freedman's position will be reviewed at the end of the season, he hopes to keep the Scotsman at the club for many years to come.

In a statement on Forest's official website, Al Hasawi said: "When Dougie and I discussed the role we mutually agreed an 18-month deal, which is what is currently in place. Within that deal we agreed a clause which presents both parties with the opportunity to review their position in the summer.

"This is merely a formality and it is something which is very common in sport. I hope Dougie will be with us for many years and we will continue to work together in our attempts to bring success back to this great club.

"I am surprised at the reaction from some and disappointed with the way my interview was reported."

Forest are currently 10th in the league table.
