Nottingham Forest chairman: 'Dougie Freedman only has three-month deal'

Fawaz Al Hasawi, the chairman of Nottingham Forest, reveals that manager Dougie Freedman's current deal at the club only runs up until the summer.

Nottingham Forest chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi has revealed that manager Dougie Freedman was handed just a three-month contract when he took over at the club.

The former Crystal Palace and Bolton Wanderers boss replaced Stuart Pearce as manager at the City Ground at the beginning of February, making a solid start to his tenure by claiming two wins and a draw from his first three games in charge.

However, the details of Freedman's deal have now been made clear, with Forest chief Al Hasawi admitting that the Scotsman's future will be reviewed in the summer.

"Dougie has started three games and we have seven points, so the results are doing the talking, I do not need to say whether Dougie is doing well or not," he told the Nottingham Post. "We signed him only for three months. At the end of the season, we will decide if he will continue for next season or he will decide, even.

"He wanted it to be this way. He will sign for three months and then we will decide in May if he is going to continue for next season. Then perhaps we will look at another contract for two or three years. This is only the beginning.

"He has a three month contract for now, with the option of another year. I hope that he stays here for ten years. I really do. I do not want him to leave Forest, if he is doing well. But if this was your club and the manager was not doing well, would you make a change? I want stability, of course. I hope we can work together and, from the first time I saw him and spoke with him, I feel we can do something."

Forest are currently sitting in 10th place in the Championship table, 12 points off a playoff place.
