Nottingham Forest considering Nigel Clough move?

Nottingham Forest are considering bringing in former striker Nigel Clough as manager should they part ways with Dougie Freedman, according to a report.

Nottingham Forest have reportedly identified former striker Nigel Clough as a potential choice to replace current manager Dougie Freedman, should they part company with him.

The Reds have won three of their last 22 games under Freedman, with owner Fawaz Al Hasawi said to be growing increasingly frustrated with the team's results.

The Scot is the sixth manager that Forest have had since Al Hasawi took charge of the club in 2012.

Clough is a fan favourite at Forest, having scored 131 goals for the club between 1984 and 1993, while his father Brian Clough managed the club for 18 years from 1975 to 1993, winning the league title, two European Cups and four League Cups in that time.

According to The Telegraph, Clough is the preferred choice to succeed Freedman and Forest will approach him should the team struggle in the next three games against Sheffield Wednesday, Preston North End and Derby County.

Forest are currently 16th in the Championship, with their previous win coming against Birmingham City last month.

Clough, who has been out of work since leaving Sheffield United in May, has also managed Burton Albion and Derby during his career.
