Notts County sack manager Martin Allen following their 3-0 defeat to Hartlepool.

Notts County have sacked Martin Allen after their 3-0 loss to Hartlepool this afternoon.

Allen, 46, had been in charge at Meadow Lane for less than a year, having taken over in April 2011, but today's 3-0 defeat seemed to be the final straw for chairman Ray Trew.

Allen saved the club from relegation at the end of last season and guided them to 11th place in League One this term.

The world's oldest football league club will now be on the lookout for a new manager to take the helm.
