Following on from Saturday's 2-1 triumph over the Central Coast Mariners, Perth Glory made it two wins from as many outings thanks to their 1-0 success over Melbourne Victory at the nib Stadium this morning.
Nebojsa Marinkovic was the Glory's hero against the Mariners with two goals, but today it was the man that replaced the injured Serbian - Diego Castro - in the 52nd minute that was the match-winner.
The home side were the dominant force for much of the first half, yet they were unable to find a way past visiting goalkeeper Danny Vukovic, who did particularly well to deny Gyorgy Sandor's strike from distance.
Glory continued to look the more likely to break the deadlock after the restart, and their pressure eventually told 16 minutes from the end.
Seventeen-year-old debutant Jamal Reiners worked his way down to the left byline, from where he cut the ball back for substitute Castro to turn it in from close range.
The Spanish playmaker, who joined Glory from Getafe earlier this year, had two more chances from set-piece situations as the game drew to a close. One flew inches wide, while the other forced a diving Vukovic to turn the ball behind for a corner.
The defeat has put a dent in fourth-placed Victory's title challenge, having them left six points adrift of leaders Western Sydney Wanderers. As for the victorious Glory, they have jumped up to eighth.
