Marco Giampaolo has revealed that he did not accept Pescara's offer to become their new coach because the conditions at the Italian club are not "right" for him.
The 45-year-old was approached by the Serie A strugglers following their decision to sack Cristiano Bergodi on Sunday.
"Pescara did all that they could, but there were not the right conditions in place for me to go," he told TMW.
"Behind a decision to restart there has to be the right scenario. But, from my point of view, there wasn't.
"The situation at Pescara is delicate and I opted to decline, but I thank the president for the conversation."
Pescara, who are currently at the foot of the Serie A table, will be coached by Cristian Bucchi for a month as he does not have the qualifications to coach in the Italian top flight for more than 30 days.
