Half-Time Report: Britt Assombalonga reaches 30-goal mark as Peterborough United lead Gillingham

Britt Assombalonga's 30th goal of the season gives Peterborough United a 1-0 half-time lead over Gillingham at London Road.

Britt Assombalonga's 30th goal of the season has given Peterborough United a 1-0 half-time lead over Gillingham at London Road.

The 21-year-old, who has now netted 21 times in League One this term, opened the scoring on 42 minutes with a crisp left-footed strike from inside the penalty area.

Posh, who are looking to strengthen their position in the playoff places, had been frustrated by an organised Gillingham side up until Assombalonga's breakthrough.

Gillingham will fancy their chances of getting back into this match. Prior to today, Peter Taylor's side had scored in each of their last seven games in all competitions.
