Rob Page expects Tom Pope interest

Port Vale caretaker boss Rob Page concedes that the club could find it hard to retain Tom Pope's services in January due to the striker's prolific form this season.

Caretaker manager Rob Page has admitted that Port Vale may find it difficult to keep hold of Tom Pope during the January transfer window.

Pope, 29, has scored nine goals this season, which is said to have alerted a number of Football League clubs.

Speaking after the striker's brace helped Vale to overcome Yeovil Town 4-1 yesterday afternoon, Page told reporters: "It's no surprise Tom's been linked with other clubs. Anyone who scores as many goals as he has over the past couple of years is bound to attract attention."

The forward joined Vale from Rotherham United in 2011 and has since scored 53 goals in 133 league starts.
