League Two quartet up for Player of the Month award for December

Gareth Evans, Jason McCarthy, John Lundstram and Matty Taylor are nominated for the League Two Player of the Month award for December.

Four players competing within the top six of the League Two table have been nominated for the Football League's Player of the Month award for December.

Gareth Evans is in contention for the gong after he scored four goals in four matches for Portsmouth last month, including a headed equaliser against Northampton Town.

Wycombe Wanderers' Jason McCarthy has looked comfortable after switching from centre-back to full-back and has given the team more options.

McCarthy managed to find the back of the net in December when his header gave Wycombe all three points against Oxford United, whose midfielder John Lundstram is also up for the award.

The 21-year-old, who joined the club from Everton in August, has cemented himself as a crucial member of Oxford's midfield, and he got on the scoresheet in a 3-0 win over Exeter City last month.

Bristol Rovers striker Matty Taylor rounds off the shortlist after he racked up four goals and two assists during his team's schedule in December.

The winner will be announced on Friday.
