A Portsmouth fan group send an open letter to the players asking for them to lower their financial demands.

A group of Portsmouth fans have appealed for the players who are owed money by the club to reduce their financial demands.

It was announced today that the Championship outfit are just weeks away from liquidation.

Some players, such as Nwankwo Kanu, are owed millions in unpaid wages and it is understood that the club's board must reach a compromise in order to stay afloat.

A supporters group, SOS Pompey, handed letters out to players at the club's training ground on Monday morning.

Bob Beech, a spokesman for the group, said: "This is the end game for Pompey, in a couple of weeks it will be over.

"Some players were excellent and stopped to listen to what we said, others as expected weren't interested and drove straight on.

"At the end of the day, they have contracts and they expect those contracts to be paid and that is not an unreasonable stance to take. But the well is dry and if they stay and keep their demands going then there will be no club and they will end up with nothing."

Former chairman Balram Chainrai is believed to be readying a takeover bid.
