Angel di Maria: 'We were outstanding in Madrid'

Paris Saint-Germain attacker Angel di Maria says that his team were "10 times better" than Real Madrid during their 1-0 defeat at the Bernabeu on Tuesday.

Paris Saint-Germain attacker Angel di Maria has claimed that his team were "10 times better" than Real Madrid during their Group A Champions League clash on Tuesday.

Real Madrid triumphed at the Bernabeu courtesy of a first-half effort from Nacho in a game that saw PSG miss a number of clear-cut opportunities.

Di Maria, who hit the crossbar with a late free kick, has said that his team were "outstanding", but has bemoaned their inability to find the back of the net at the home of the 10-time European champions.

"We've played our best game of the season, an outstanding display. We made one mistake and were punished," Mundo Deportivo quotes Di Maria as saying.

"We were 10 times better than Madrid. We have to continue along that line. Sometimes you need a little luck. I'm convinced this team can do great things. The Champions League is hard and long."

Di Maria helped Real Madrid win their 10th European Cup in the 2013-14 season, before moving on to Manchester United, where he spent just one season, joining PSG last summer.
