Mathieu Bodmer admits PSG feeling the pressure

Mathieu Bodmer admits that it is tough to manage the expectations that come with playing for PSG.

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Mathieu Bodmer has admitted that it is tough to manage the added pressure that comes with playing for the capital side.

Qatari millions have rejuvenated PSG, who splashed a reported €108m (£91.5m) on big name signings such as Javier Pastore in the summer.

Bodmer, 29, moved to his boyhood heroes for €3m (£2.5m) in June 2010, but has said that the expectations are somewhat different now.

"It's not easy to manage [the pressure]," Bodmer told olweb.fr. "The label has changed; between new players, a new coach and the money that has been spent, we must win every game.

"With this in mind, we go to Lyon to win because OL is a competitor for the Champions League and we must create a gap."

The attacking midfielder is hoping for an improvement on the performance that saw PSG draw 2-2 at home with Montpellier last weekend.

"It is, above all, about not conceding a goal - to be strong, to have control of the ball," he added. "But first things first, what we wanted above all, was the defensive solidity that has been found recently. Now it is necessary that we break forward faster and be more dangerous."

Les Parisiens currently occupy top spot in Ligue 1 by one point, ahead of Montpellier HSC in second.
