Thiago Silva suffers "muscle tear"

Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva picked up a thigh injury during yesterday's match against Monaco, it is revealed.

Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that Thiago Silva suffered a torn thigh muscle during their 1-1 draw with Monaco last night.

The 29-year-old picked up the injury with just 16 minutes played and was subsequently replaced by Zoumana Camara.

The injury has been assessed, but no timescale has been placed on the Brazilian international's recovery.

"The MRI test carried out on Thiago Silva confirmed a muscle tear in the left thigh," read a statement on the club's official website.

"The length of his absence will be revealed at a later time depending on the evolution of the injury."

Silva joined the Ligue 1 champions from AC Milan in the summer of 2012.
