Sports Mole takes a closer look at QPR's 3-1 win over Sunderland in the Premier League on Saturday.

Queens Park Rangers were looking for back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time this season on Saturday when they welcomed Sunderland to Loftus Road.

Steven Fletcher gave the visitors the lead before Loic Remy levelled for the hosts before half time.

Andros Townsend scored a spectacular goal on 70 minutes to put QPR ahead and the result was put beyond doubt in the 90th minute thanks to Jermaine Jenas's thumping effort.

Sports Mole takes a closer look at the action between the two teams below.

Was the result fair?

Just about. Sunderland were an occasional menace to the QPR goal, but the home side got past the finishing line thanks to a moment of magic from Townsend and the galvanising support of their fans.

QPR's performance

Harry Redknapp's team always looked to get forward in possession and at times they spread the ball around with the confidence of a side near the top of the table, not one battling relegation. There are still some question marks in defence, but they got their just rewards.

Sunderland's performance

Despite taking the lead, the Black Cats looked woefully flat at times. In many ways it's the same old story: a side full of great individual talent, but unable to gel together and maximise their potential. It's going to be a nervy end to the season for the club, that's for sure.

Sports Mole's man of the match

Andros Townsend: Before his goal, the young midfielder was full of verve in the centre of the pitch. Teeming with boundless energy, he was always keen to get on the ball and get his side going again. He was rewarded for his display with a stunning goal that will live long in the memory.

Biggest gaffe

With the game tied at 1-1, Loic Remy had a great chance to give his side the lead 10 minutes before half time. However, the striker somehow flashed a volley over from eight yards following Bobby Zamora's knockdown. A poor miss.

Referee performance

There were a couple of decisions that Mike Jones probably could have given in attacking positions for both sides, but overall the man in the middle did a good job stamping his authority on the game.

What next?

QPR: Rangers face what is known in the business as a 'six-pointer' when they travel to fellow strugglers Aston Villa in the league next Saturday.

Sunderland: The North East side will be in need of the points when they host Norwich City in the league next Sunday.
