Jay Emmanuel-Thomas: 'Queens Park Rangers best choice for me'

QPR striker Jay Emmanuel-Thomas admits that he held conversations with other clubs during the summer, but felt that the R's provided the "best choice" for his future ambitions.

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has revealed that he opted to join Queens Park Rangers over other suitors because of the club's lofty ambitions.

The 24-year-old left Bristol City at the end of last season after finding the net 12 times in League One.

Despite rumoured interest from elsewhere, most notably from Birmingham City, Emmanuel-Thomas opted to return to London in order to take another step up on his path back to the Premier League.

"Conversations took place [with other clubs], and it was all about making the right choice," he is quoted as saying by Get West London. "You have to look at where the club is, what players they have and what their ambitions are - and this was the best choice."

The former Arsenal product has had to wait for his first-team chance at Loftus Road due to the form of Charlie Austin, but an injury to the England hopeful has paved the way for the player to make his mark.

"I've had to wait until October, and it's not what I would have intended but it's happened," he continued. "You'd never not think you wouldn't get a start, but with the form Charlie's been in there's not much you can do.

"You've had to keep quiet and wait your time. Looking at the team we've got here at QPR I know we're going to win games. Last season at Bristol was the same. We know we had teams that were going to win games - and we ended up winning both competitions."

Emmanuel-Thomas has scored four goals for QPR since joining in the summer, including two against Bolton Wanderers last time out.
