Harry Redknapp says that the January transfer window is like "gang warfare" as he tried to clinch deals before Thursday.

Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has insisted that the transfer window has been competitive this month.

The 65-year-old, who has been open about his desire to strengthen the squad at Loftus Road, has struggled to acquire the services of West Bromwich Albion striker Peter Odemwingie, who has been refused a move to the West London outfit.

"When you're in a position like we are, you need to strengthen if you can," Sky Sports News quotes Redknapp as saying. "I didn't put this squad together, I inherited it.

"I still think we can avoid relegation if I can get the players in that I'm aiming for. We'll give ourselves a real chance if we get them in. I'm sure there'll be clubs looking to do some business but it's always difficult. This transfer window, I've never seen anything like it. It's like gang warfare out there."

The R's have snapped up the signature of Marseille frontman Loic Remy so far this month.
