Dave King will "stay involved" with Rangers if he fails fit and proper persons test

Dave King insists that he will "stay involved" with Rangers even if he fails the fit and proper persons test following his consortium's takeover.

Prospective new Rangers chairman Dave King has insisted that he will "stay involved" if he fails the fit and proper persons test.

The businessman's consortium, which includes Paul Murray and John Gilligan, secured control of the Scottish outfit after they received an 85% vote from shareholders in today's extraordinary general meeting.

While King awaits approval from the authorities, Murray has taken on the interim role as chairman.

"If I'm deemed not to be fit and proper then I will remain a supporter and investor and stay involved from the sidelines," King told reporters in today's press conference.

The new board will also hold talks with former manager Ally McCoist regarding his future at Ibrox.
