Rangers boss Mark Warburton has revealed that he is desperate to bring Burnley midfielder Joey Barton to the Scottish giants this summer.
Barton played a key role in Burnley's recent promotion to the Premier League, but the experienced midfielder is yet to agree a new contract with his current club.
Speculation linking the 33-year-old with a move to Scotland has gathered pace in recent days, and now Warburton has confirmed that the now Scottish Premiership side want the Englishman to form part of their squad for the new season.
"Joey is a very talented player. He's a Burnley player still. He's a very talented individual. He offers the experience and maturity that we need to add to the squad," Warburton told Sky Sports News.
"A championship team of the year after a fantastic season for Joey, I'm sure he has a lot of options. All we can try and do is show him what Rangers represent. The opportunity we represent and just see where that goes."
Barton has previously represented Manchester City, Newcastle United, Queens Park Rangers and Marseille.
