Reading boss Brian McDermott believes that his side deserved a point in Saturday's 3-2 defeat at Wigan Athletic.

Reading manager Brian McDermott has claimed that his side deserved a point in Saturday's 3-2 defeat at Wigan Athletic.

The Royals were on course for a share of the spoils at the DW Stadium before Jordi Gomez completed his hat-trick in the final minute to give Wigan the win.

"I thought we deserved a point, and I thought it was the least we were going to get," said McDermott.

"We have to learn quickly from that. We've seen out the last couple of games really well but unfortunately we haven't seen this one out."

Reading continue their Premier League campaign on Tuesday when they travel to fellow strugglers Aston Villa.
