Reading's new owner targets playoff place in 2015-16

Reading's new owner, Narin Niruttinanon, believes that the Royals can reach the Championship playoffs in 2015-16, despite finishing 19th last term.

Reading's new owner has laid down his expectations for the coming Championship season, targeting a top-six place in the playoffs.

Narin Niruttinanon's Thai consortium owns 50% of the Royals after reaching an agreement with previous majority shareholder Anton Zingarevich.

The Berkshire-based outfit are currently in Thailand on a pre-season tour and their new owner outlined his ambitions at a press conference in his homeland.

"I may be too optimistic, but I think with the team we have, if they have more time with the manager and play as a team, and we have less injuries, I don't see why we can't aim for playoffs and hopefully have a chance to compete," he said.

"We need to aim high and I really hope we can do well."

Steve Clarke's side finished 19th in the second tier last season.
