Olimpic de Xativa shut out Real Madrid

Segunda Division B side Olimpic de Xativa prevent Real Madrid from scoring at the Estadio La Murta and earn a draw in their Copa del Rey tie.

Segunda Division B side Olimpic de Xativa have played out a goalless draw with Real Madrid in the first leg of their Copa del Rey last-32 clash at home.

There was no real chance for either side in the first half at Estadio La Murta, but the hosts increased their intensity after the restart.

However, it was Madrid who had the first proper opportunity of the match on 57 minutes when Angel di Maria teed up Isco for an effort that went just wide of the post.

Isco came close again minutes later with a curling shot but goalkeeper Francis made a good save, and from the resulting corner Karim Benzema saw his attempt go high and wide of the crossbar.

The visitors ended the contest the stronger of the two teams with Benzema coming close again eight minutes from time, but Olimpic held on for a credible draw against the Spanish giants.
