Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has told Cristiano Ronaldo that Portugal can still qualify for the quarter-finals at Euro 2012.
Portugal are joint bottom of Group B following their 1-0 defeat to Germany on Saturday night.
Another defeat to either Denmark or Holland will almost certainly lead to the early elimination of Paulo Bento's team, but Mourinho has urged the Portuguese players to believe in their ability.
Ronaldo said: "I have spoken to Mourinho and he told me we must trust in ourselves for the next two games and believe we can still go through.
"Even my Real teammate Mesut Ozil, who played for Germany, said we have a great team and have become very difficult to beat.
"I'm very frustrated, as we deserved at least a draw. But we can still reach the quarter-finals. In Euro 2004 we lost the opening game and reached the final. We must remember that."
Ronaldo has been capped 91 times by Portugal, scoring 32 goals.
