Midfielder Donny van de Beek is reportedly close to agreeing a new contract with Ajax.
After impressing for the Dutch side on their run to the Champions League semi-finals, Van de Beek attracted interest from several clubs during the summer, including from Real.
However, the Spanish giants, potentially distracted by their pursuit of Manchester United's Paul Pogba, failed to get a deal done before the end of the transfer window.
According to Voetbal International, Ajax are now ready to capitalise by handing the Netherlands international fresh terms as they look to ensure that the 22-year-old sees out the season in the Eredivisie.
Having already lost Frenkie de Jong to Barcelona, Ajax see Van de Beek as an integral part of their team during the rest of the campaign.
The playmaker has already contributed two goals and four assists from his nine appearances this season.
