Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane: 'Cristiano Ronaldo is non-transferable'

Zinedine Zidane insists that Cristiano Ronaldo will not be sold during his time in charge of Real Madrid.

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has shot down suggestions that Cristiano Ronaldo could be on his way out of the Bernabeu.

Recent reports have claimed that Ronaldo has made up his mind to leave the Spanish giants at the end of the season.

The three-time Ballon d'Or winner, who joined Madrid from Manchester United in 2009 for a then-world record £80m fee, was thought to have been unhappy working under Rafael Benitez.

Now that Zidane has replaced Benitez, the former Madrid player has insisted that Ronaldo will not leave the club under his tenure.

"[Ronaldo] is non-transferable," Zidane told reporters. "He is the soul of this team, of Madridismo. I laugh at your question. When I am here, he will not leave.

"Cristiano will play as he does. I will say few things to Cristiano. What I want is for him to be happy. The rest comes from that."

Ronaldo has scored 25 goals in 24 appearances this season.
