Giovanni Trapattoni announces the Ireland squad that will face Serbia in a friendly on August 15.

Giovanni Trapattoni has named a significantly different 23-man squad for Ireland's friendly against Serbia next month.

Trapattoni's first squad since the disappointing European Championships sees experienced players Robbie Keane, Richard Dunne, Shay Given and Damien Duff all miss out.

Steven Hunt and Kevin Foley are the other high-profile names omitted with Seamus Coleman, James McCarthy and Marc Wilson brought in.

Trapattoni announced the squad in Donegal on Friday, saying: "This friendly offers us a great opportunity to try out younger players ahead of our World Cup qualifying campaign."

Ireland travel to Belgrade for the friendly on August 15 ahead of their opening World Cup qualifier against Kazakhstan in September.

Ireland squad (vs. Serbia): Darren Randolph, Kieran Westwood, David Forde, Marc Wilson, John O' Shea, Sean St Ledger, Darren O' Dea, Stephen Ward, Stephen Kelly, Paul Mc Shane, Glenn Whelan, Darron Gibson, James Mc Carthy, Paul Green, Seamus Coleman, Aiden Mc Geady, Andy Keogh, James Mc Clean, Keith Tracey, Kevin Doyle, Simon Cox, Shane Long, Jonathan Walters
