Roma pair injured in Champions League defeat to Liverpool

Roma pair Kevin Strootman and Diego Perotti both sustained injuries during the 5-2 defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Kevin Strootman and Diego Perotti have both emerged as doubts for the second leg of Roma's Champions League semi-final with Liverpool.

On Tuesday night, both players featured as Roma suffered a 5-2 defeat to the Premier League outfit on Merseyside, although the Italian side will take the positives from netting two late away goals.

However, according to Football Italia, the pair will have to overcome knocks to play a part in the return fixture at the Stadio Olimpico next Wednesday.

Strootman has sustained bruising to his ribs, while Perotti has sprained his left ankle and will be assessed over the coming days.

Roma will be looking to reach a European final for the first time since progressing through to the same stage of the UEFA Cup during the 1990-91 campaign.
