Italian midfielder Simone Perrotta has announced his retirement from professional football.
The 35-year-old, who has been with Serie A outfit Roma since 2004, also represented Reggina, Juventus, Bari and Chievo during an illustrious playing career.
"I definitely won't stay on at Roma as a player. I don't think I'll continue playing at all, in fact, as I'd prefer to end my career as an ex-Roma player rather than at another club," he told Teleradiostereo.
"I wanted to finish my playing days with this jersey and I feel it's the right thing to do."
The veteran, who could remain with Roma in a coaching capacity, won the World Cup with his country in 2006.
