Everton: 'Samuel Eto'o to join Sampdoria in next 24 hours'

Everton confirm that Samuel Eto'o will join Italian club Sampdoria within the next 24 hours.

Everton have this evening confirmed that Samuel Eto'o will join Italian side Sampdoria "inside the next 24 hours".

The 33-year-old striker has undergone a medical in Genoa, and a move is now expected to be completed some time on Monday.

Sampdoria had prematurely confirmed the move on the club's Twitter account following a week of talks with the former African Footballer of the Year, although the finishing touches have yet to be placed on a deal.

Eto'o arrived at Goodison Park on a free transfer in August 2014, scoring four goals in 20 appearances for the Toffees this season.

Prior to linking up with Everton, the former Cameroon international enjoyed a season with fellow Premier League club Chelsea, while he has also featured for Barcelona and Inter Milan - winning a European and league double in successive seasons.
