Eintracht Frankfurt draw with Schalke 04 after second-half turnaround

Eintracht Frankfurt draw with Schalke 04 3-3 in the Bundesliga after going two goals down.

Eintracht Frankfurt have come from two goals down to draw 3-3 with Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga.

Frankfurt could have gone ahead inside two minutes as Vaclav Kadlec was presented with an early chance, but his shot from a tight angle was read all the way by Timo Hildebrand.

The hosts had started strongly but found themselves behind as Johannes Flum got the final touch in a duel with Jefferson Farfan and turned into his own net.

Then in the 18th minute, as Frankfurt were reeling, Schalke made it two from a free kick as Joel Matip was left unmarked to nod home from a Dennis Aogo ball.

The in-form Kadlec then had another chance from a lesser angle, but could only slash his shot high over the bar as the sides went in at 2-0.

It was not looking good for the hosts at half time, but they came out for the second half with a much higher tempo and started to impose themselves.

They pulled one back after 10 minutes, as Flum met a corner to atone for his earlier own goal and within five more minutes they were level.

Joselu rose highest to meet a Sebastian Jung cross to set up a frantic final 30 minutes in front of a now buzzing crowd.

A quite incredible turnaround was complete on 68 minutes as Joselu picked up the ball from Tranquillo Barnetta and fired in low from outside the box.

However, there was to be more drama as Benedikt Howedes slammed in a right-footed effort with less than five minutes to play.
