Gordon Strachan: 'Scotland are in a strange group'

Scotland boss Gordon Strachan suggests that their World Cup qualifying group is "strange" ahead of their trip to Slovakia.

Scotland boss Gordon Strachan has claimed that his side will "have to be on their toes" when they meet Slovakia on Tuesday night.

The Tartan Army have claimed four points from their opening two World Cup qualifying fixtures, but it was considered two points dropped when they drew with Lithuania at the weekend.

However, Strachan has described the group - which also includes England, Slovenia and Malta - as "strange" and has suggested that his team could benefit from inconsistent results in Group F

The 59-year-old told reporters: "Slovakia have changed quite dramatically since seeing them twice in the European Championships. Our players know their system has changed a bit and we will have to be on our toes.

"It is a strange, strange group and the stranger it gets the better for us. Three quarters of our games have been good, professional and I liked them."

Slovakia are currently without a point after losing 1-0 to both England and Slovenia.
