Half-Time Report: Scunthorpe United are cruising against Southend United

League Two leaders Scunthorpe United are 2-0 up against Southend United at half time.

Scunthorpe United are well on their way to extending their lead at the top of League Two, leading Southend United 2-0 at half time.

Goals at either end of the first 45 minutes have given the league leaders a comfortable cushion.

The hosts couldn't have wished for a better start and were ahead with three minutes thanks to Matthew Sparrow, who found space in the middle of the box before smashing the ball into the roof of the net.

Gary McSheffrey almost added to the lead, but saw his effort tipped wide as Southend began to get back into the game.

They found themselves two behind just before the break though, when Sam Winnall reacted quickest to McSheffrey's cross and tapped the ball in.
